exclusive sotw interview 2001

Q: You Turned 30 this year, how did you celebrate?

Yes I did turn 30 in February! I was quite shocked! I didn't want to make a big thing of it! but Mark (husband) and I drank champagne ALL DAY, and then went on to my favourite restaurant for lunch- it was lovely!

Q: As you can guess all your fans are waiting for a huge return, so with the current 80's revival are you planning a big comeback?

Yes! I would love to make a big come back. So many people keep on asking me this question. Its finding the right material, the right deal and the right recording label? Everything would have to be RIGHT. Mainly finding a 'a top Five Sure hit'.

Q: Do you have plans for new recording meterial?

Fortunately I was in Brighton appearing at a gay venue, and I bumped into one of the writers from my second album (sonia) He wrote the track "Say Goodbye to Me" It looks like we are gonna get together, he says he's
written real chart material. SO WATCH THIS SPACE

Do you enjoy writing your own songs?

Yes I do enjoy writing songs, I'm more a lyric person, I am very good with words, I'm not so good with melodies.

Q: Which is your personal favourite songs that you have recorded? and your least favourite track?
My favourite song that I have recorded has got to be "You'll Never Stop Me Loving You" because it was my first one! My least favourite tracks were all on the "Love Train" album.

Q: Your "love train" album is a much sort after collectors item by your fans? Where you not happy with the end result of the album?
I don't think me and the producer had the same idea's on the "love train" opinions, the sound, tempos's
e.t.c We did'nt agree on lots of points. He was a great producer- But we just did'nt click.

Q: Have you ever done anything in your career, where you have stood back and thought "what am i doing?"

NO, I can honestly say most things I have done have been positive and focused. I think Life is a learning
process. So any mistakes along the way are meant to be.

Q: You have done loads of travelling over the years with your work, where is the place you have enjoyed the
most? (did you ever go to *Malta!) (*) Malta giving Ireland the last 12 point in 1993 Eurovision Song contest, which then put sonia in to
2nd place! in the contest.)

I've been to so many places, as you say. My favoutiteshave to be Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan. I loved Ireland
when we did the Eurovision too. There's so many places to choose from. And yes I have been to Malta- it's a
lovely place but that was BEFORE I did the Eurovision!!

Q:If you were to appear on " celebrity stars in their
eyes" who would you most like to be?

I would LOVE to go on to "Celebrity Stars's In Their Eyes" I think I would like to be Elaine Paige, Jennifer Rush or Taylor Dane?

Q: Have you ever been Star struck by any celebrities that
you have meet?
I think that out of all the celebs that I have meet, the two people that REALLY stopped me in my tracks
were Paul M'Cartney and Elton John.

Q: You have achieved so much? what ambitions do you have still have?

I would love to bring more singles out. Do some serious acting- maybe appear in a soap opera, more theatre. There is so much to look forward to!
